So I guess we all work to deadlines but boy that was close, the bikes are more or less finished now although those darn side stands are still too long fully loaded….too late now! We will need to find some kind person with tools soon after we arrive in the USA to make further adjustments, worse case is we raise the lowered front forks in the triple clamp.

We left our Bikes with MotoFreight 10 days before we travelled. This gives them time to check your bikes over for any issues that will cause transit delays and then crate the bikes up ready for transportation.

You need to apply for a ESTA online if you go to this link there is a $14 charge and providing there are no issues with your application you will receive a email a few hours later.

You will also need a EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) document to allow you to import your motorcycle. We applied for this with 4 weeks to go…..it came in three weeks but we were lucky it was low season.

MotorFreight need the EPA and scanned copies of your passport and the vehicle V5.

Taking the kitchen sink….

The bikes need to be delivered with less than 25% of the fixed fuel capacity. There is a long list of items that you need to avoid (above) these can be taken mostly as hold luggage or sourced on arrival (yes they to have shops abroad)
